A charming opal bug has settled upon this diamond and white gold ring from the Enchanted Palace collection, seemingly resting before spreading its pavé diamond wings in flight. Recalling the fashion for insect jewellery in the Victorian age, which was driven by a fascination with the natural world, each miniature element of the bug is handcrafted in 18 carat gold, from its delicate legs to its tiny antennae.
The Enchanted Palace collection is inspired by the Victorian whimsy on show at the Great Exhibition in London in 1851. The brainchild of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s husband, the exhibition — a groundbreaking celebration of innovation and design — united talent from all over the world under one roof, including Garrard.
